Google Adsense is perhaps the easiest way to attract advertisers from across the globe to your blog. Just submit your blog to Google for approval. If Google likes what it sees, it will place contextual ads linking to products likely to appeal to the readers. Each time a reader clicks a link, the advertiser pays Google a small fee, and Google splits that with you.
The next interesting question - How to Make Money with Google Adsense ? Here are The best Google Adsense Tips and Tricks for making more money (profit) from Google adsense program.
a. Strictly follow the rules mentioned in Adsense policies. You will always earn more revenue from Adsense by playing it clean.
b. Never modify the Google Adsense HTML code.
c. Don't ask your friends or visitors to click on your Google ads. Do not include incentives of any kind for users to click on ads. Don't label the Google ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements.".
d. Don't click on your own ads - Google is much smarter than you think. You should not reload your pages excessively. If you are testing your website layout with Google adsense, follow some precautions.
e. Don't place ads in pop-up windows, error pages or even empty pages.
f. Don't start a "adsense asbestos" or "home equity loan rates" website merely to make money from accidental clicks (accidence). You will never make money out these "made-for-adsense-only" websites. Instead, write on topics what you are passionate about. Don't waste your money on high-paying adsense keywords lists.
g. For short articles, CTR is best when ads are placed just above the content
h. For long articles, CTR improves if ads are placed somewhere in middle of the content - visitors read the long content and then they are looking for more resources.
i. Use Text Ads instead of Image Ads as users get more options. If you still want to display image ads, consider ad formats that support image ads - Choose either the 300x250 medium rectangle or the 160x600 wide skyscraper - or both, if you display multiple ad units on a page.
j. Google Ads without background color and borders always perform better. Make the border color and background color same as your page background color.
k. Always put ads above the main fold. Make sure that the ad unit with the highest clickthrough rate is the first instance of the ad code that appears in the HTML. Since the first ad unit is always filled before the rest, you want to make sure that ad unit is located in the best placement on your page.
l. Try setting the ad link URL color to a lighter shade. If your text is black, you may make the adlink as light gray.
m. Go Wide - The large rectangle is the best paying adsense format (336x280) - The Google Adsense Publisher team also feels that the best formats are the wider ones - the ad formats that contain the widest individual ads. Try using the 336x280 large rectangle, 300x250 medium rectangle, or 160x600 wide skyscraper.
n. Placing images next to ads or above ads does help in attracting user attention.
o. Blend AdLinks with other navigation links or place horizontal adlinks at the top of your webpage. AdSense publishers are permitted to click on link unit topics on their web pages, provided that they do not click on any Google ads on the resulting page.
p. Organize an Adsense Party for your friends and colleagues - Request them to navigate your website, watch their activity - it will provide vital clues about which regions on your website draw more user attention. Try putting ads near those areas. (Thanks Darren)
q. You can put upto 3 adsense units on a page. Try putting a large skyscraper on the right navigation sidebar of your website. That area is close to the browser scrollbar. You can also add 2 AdSense for search boxes, 1 adlink unit and 1 referral button per product (i.e., 1 AdSense referral button and 1 Firefox plus Google Toolbar referral button).
r. The first few lines of your content are an important factor for determining what Ads are served on your webpage. That's the right place to put keywords in bold (strong or <b> tags) or header tags (h1, h2, etc).
s. Always select the setting to open Google Adsense search box results in a new browser window, so you won't lose your visitors. Click the Open search results in a new browser window checkbox and this add target="google_window" to your form tag.
t. Maximum people think the search box is on the top right corner. So you know where to put it.
u. Don't syndicate full content. If people can read everything from the newsreader window itself, why would they visit your website where your ads are.
v. Use URL channels to determine performance of individual pages. I track my most popular pages with Google Analytics, Statcounter and create a channel for each of the URL. You can even track Adsense Clicks with Analytics
w. For low CTR pages, try changing titles or adding more content to get better focused ads
x. Block low paying advertisers with Filters. Why to loose a visitor for 0.01 cents. Use Overture or Google Adwords Keywords tool to discover keywords that are less popular with advertisers.
y. The AdSense for search Top Queries report shows you what your users are looking for, by listing the 25 most common searches conducted through your AdSense for search boxes. Use this report to identify additional topics to add to your site, or to keep track of your most sought-after information. Focus and improve that content.
z. Not everyone has a RSS reader. Use RSS to Email services like FeedBlitz, Bloglet or Rmail to let users subscribe to your blog by email.
Remember, you are the best judge when it comes to choosing ad formats. Even Google doesn't offer the best advise always. For instance, in the visual heat map, Google suggests that webmasters are best served by positioning ads on the upper left-hand side of a Web page. But on the Google homepage, you will find ads on the far right.

If you are testing your new website layout, you might be reloading your website pages again-n-again. And if these pages contain Google Ads, each time your reload your page, you make a request to Google Ads Server for a new set of ads.
Certainly Google is unaware that you are testing your website and it might even penalize your account for "click-fraud" since the IP requesting ads remains same. And if in the worst-case scenario, you might accidently click on your own ads. And these extra "ad impressions" will also chance your CTR data.
One simple way to avoid this serious problem is to remove the Adsense code altogether from your page before testing. But this may not be the best solution as your Google Ads are an important part of your layout. So here are a few simple but effective workarounds:
1. Instead of using Adsense code, add a static graphic (jpg image) with the same dimesions as your adsense code. (Google itself provides static images of various ad formats.)
2. Modify the value of google_ad_client to something like "pub-googleIamTesting"
3. Add another line to Google Adsense code google_adtest = "on"; Don't forget the semicolon.
4. Though there is no official comment, it is safer to remove the google_ad_channel variable.
Or contact Google Adsense Team with your query. Google folks are very quick to respond.
Google AdSense policies require that websites displaying Google ads be active and not under construction. When your site is complete and active, you may add the AdSense
ad code.

Thinking to cheat AdSense? Stop that. It will never bring you anywhere. You might pull it off with smaller ads network, but definitely not with Google. Here are some detection methods they might use. At the very least, they have the resources to do so.
IP Address
If the AdSense click is originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.
Cookies
Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don’t forget, Google has set cookies on your computer.
Other Google Services
Thinking that you are safe just because you do not access your AdSense account? Think again. This time, consider these: GMail, Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Sitemap, Google Desktop, Blogger, and so on, and so on. With the wide range of services they provide, Google can trace the originator of most (or probably almost all) clicks.
Click Pattern 1
Oh, why this computer / IP address / person is so trigger-click-happy on this particular website but never click on the ads on other sites?
Click Pattern 2
And why is it that people accessing these sites direct (type-in URL or from bookmark) tend to be very active ad-clickers compared with those referred from search engine or other sites?
Click Pattern 3
And why the ad-clickers like to hit and run, compared with non ad-clickers that surf a few pages before leaving?
Click-Through-Rate (CTR)
Your CTR may range from 0.5% to 10%, but if it exceeds a certain point (probably around 10%), you are flagged.
Geo-Location
Used Urchin (Google Analytics) before? Then you should know that Google can trace traffics origin down to the small town. Different IP doesn’t mean much. Unless you site is really targetted to one small geo-point, a high number of clicks from nearby location will get you banned quickly.
Hardware address?
MAC address of the LAN card, modem, and router works almost like a fingerprint. I’m not sure if Google can track this, but probably they do. They have rocket scientist, remember?
Advertisers conversion rate
Ad click is one thing. But does it bring value to the advertisers? If none of the clicks on your site translate to conversion to the advertiser, you are in trouble. First the Smart-Pricing hits, then your AdSense account disabled.
Search Engine Ranking
Your website is not indexed on any search engine, not linked by any prominent website, but get consistently high traffic? That sounds like something is in play. Regardless of whether it is an adware-embedded software, spam, trojan clickbot, or intentionally installed click-exchange network, it doesn’t sound right.
Webpage design
How about the “click here” or “support us”? Google has the best search engine in the world. Is it really that hard to find those words?
Combo
Each of these detection methods might seem rather weak. But combine them together, and not many click-fraud can pass-through these filters. Even the smartest clickbot will have a hard time. In short, it is almost impossible to cheat AdSense in the long term. Instead of spending time, money, and effort trying to outsmart Google, try these tips to improve your AdSense earning.
Disclaimer : I’m not working for Google nor in anyway know anyone inside Google. Google might or might not use these methods to detect click-fraud. I’d believe that they have much better detection mechanism.

How can I create expandable post summaries or add read more text on post?
No Comment - Post a comment
With this trick, you can choose to display an arbitrary amount of text from the beginning of each post, as a teaser for the whole thing. Then users who want to read the rest of the post can click a link to see the full text. This is handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. Note that you'll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.
There are three ingredients that go into this feature: conditional CSS, a "read more" link for each post, and a modification for the posts that use this feature. So let's go through it step by step.
Conditional CSS
We're going to use conditional tags to change how posts display on different pages. Add the following code to your style sheet, depending on what kind of template you have:
(for classic templates)
<MainOrArchivePage>
span.fullpost {display:none;}
</MainOrArchivePage>
<ItemPage>
span.fullpost {display:inline;}
</ItemPage>
(for layouts)
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
span.fullpost {display:inline;}
<b:else/>
span.fullpost {display:none;}
</b:if>
Your style sheet is usually near the top of your template, between the
<style> and </style> tags. If you have your style sheet in a separate file, you'll still need to add these lines in your template, so the conditional tags will work. Just make sure you add in the <style> tags around them. What we did here was to define a class called "fullpost" that will appear only on post pages (permalinks). Part of each post will use this class, as we'll see later.
"Read More" Links
Add the following code to your template, somewhere after the
<$BlogItemBody$> or <data:post.body/> tag:(for classic templates)
<MainOrArchivePage><br />
<a href="<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>">Read more!</a>
</MainOrArchivePage>
(for layouts)
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != "item"'><br />
<a expr:href='data:post.url'>Read more!</a>
</b:if>
This link will only appear on the main page and archive pages, and it will redirect your reader to the post page containing the full text of your post. You can replace the "Read more!" text with whatever you like, of course.
Post Modifications
The final piece that we need is a little bit of code in your actual post. Each post that you want to use this feature on will need this code:
<span class="fullpost"></span>
This part can actually go in the post template, if you don't want to have to type it for each post. You'll enter the summary text outside the span tags and the remainder inside, like so:
Here is the beginning of my post. <span class="fullpost">And here is the rest of it.</span>
Now, when a reader visits your blog, this post will appear like this:
Here is the beginning of my post.
When they click the link, they'll go to the post page where they'll see the whole thing:
Here is the beginning of my post. And here is the rest of it.
Notes:
* As with any template modifications, you should be sure to save a backup copy of your template before you start. Just copy and paste all your code to a text file on your hard drive, so you'll have it there as a replacement in case anything goes wrong.
* An alternative to creating post excerpts like this is to use the show/hide method on entire posts. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.
* Advantages to this method: Customizable summaries, rather than titles only. Can be applied to some posts and not others (for instance, you might only want this for your longer posts).
* Disadvantages: Requires changes to the posts themselves, rather than to the template only. However, the "read more" link is in the template, so it will appear regardless of whether a post has been truncated or not. (Modifying this feature is left as an exercise for the reader.)

WordPress 2.5 has been released and includes a huge number of changes over the WordPress 2.3 series. The new version is considered to be a major step forward, lots of elements have changed in the interface for example.
Some of the major features in this release include:
* faster loading
* cleaner interface
* integrated gallery and media management
* built-in gravatar support
* plugin one-click updates
While getting new versions of your plugins, you might want to also check a new interface for your administration, Dashboard Widgets.
Dashboard Widgets — the dashboard home page is now a series of widgets, including ones to show you fun stats about your posting, latest comments, people linking to you, new and popular plugins, and of course WordPress news. You can customize any of the dashboard widgets to show, for example, news from your local paper instead of WP news. Plugins can also hook in, for example the WordPress.com stats widget adds a handy double-wide stats box.
One feature that I like is Few-click plugin upgrades.
Few-click plugin upgrades — if the plugins you use are part of the plugin directory since 2.3 we’ve told you when they have an update available. Now we take that to the next logical step — downloading and installing the upgrade for you. This is dependent a little bit on your host setup, and it may ask you for your FTP password much like OS X or Windows will ask you for a password, but it works well on majority of hosts we were able to test, your mileage may very, plugins in mirror may be larger than they appear.
This feature makes me so easy to upgrade all of my installed plugins. I do not have to download, unpack the update, remove the old version of the plugin, and installing the latest version manually. WordPress 2.5 will do all jobs for me automatically. Thanks ;)
Want to upgrade your WordPress right now? Just make sure to check that all your plugins are up-to-date and that none of them conflicts with release 2.5.
Happy upgrading and good luck! :D

1) Write every day if you think you're a good writer, write twice a day.
2) Don't be afraid to do anything. in fact if you're afraid of something, do it. then do it again. and again.
3) Don't tell your mom, your work, your friends, the people you want to date, or the people you want to work for about your blog. if they find out and you'd rather they didn't read it, ask them nicely to grant you your privacy.
4) Have comments. don't be upset if no one writes in your comments for a long time. eventually they'll write in there. if people start acting mean in your comments, ask them to stop, they probably will.
5) Have an email address clearly displayed on your blog. sometimes people want to tell you that you rock in private.
6) Don't worry very much about the design of your blog. image is a fake out.
7) Use Blogger. it's easy, it's free; and because they are owned by Google, your blog will get spidered better, you will show up in more search results, and more people will end up at your blog. besides, all the other blogging software & alternatives pretty much suck.
8) Use spell check unless you're completely totally keeping it real. but even then you might want to use it if you think you wrote something really good.
9) Say exactly what you want to say no matter what it looks like on the screen. then say something else. then keep going. and when youre done, re-read it, and edit it and hit publish and forget about it.
10) Link like crazy. link anyone who links you, link your favorites, link your friends. don't be a prude. linking is what separates bloggers from apes. and especially link if you're trying to prove a point and someone else said it first. it lends credibility even if you're full of ****.
11) If you haven't written about sex, religion, and politics in a week you're probably playing it too safe, which means you probably ****ed up on #5, in which case start a second blog and keep your big mouth shut about it this time.
12) Remember: nobody cares which N*Sync member you are, what State you are, which Party of Five kid you are, or which Weezer song you are. the second you put one of those things on your blog you need to delete your blog and try out for the marching band. similarly, nobody gives a **** what the weather is like in your town, nobody wants you to change their cursor into a butterfly, nobody wants to vote on whether your blog is hot or not, and nobody gives a rat ass what song you're listening to. write something Real for you, about you, every day.
13) Don't be afraid if you think something has been said before. it has. and better. big whoop. say it anyway using your own words as honestly as you can. just let it out.
14) Set Site Meter and make it available for everyone to see. if you're embarrassed that not a lot of people are clicking over to your page, don't be embarrassed by the number, be embarrassed that you actually give a crap about hits to your gay blog. it really is just a blog. and hits really don't mean anything. you want Site Meter, though, to see who is linking you so you can thank them and so you can link them back. similarly, use Technorati, but don't obsess. write.
15) People like pictures. use them. save them to your own server. or use Blogger's free service. if you don't know how to do it, learn. also get a Buzznet account. several things will happen once you start blogging, one of them is you will learn new things. thats a good thing.
16) Before you hit Save as Draft or Publish Post, select all and copy your masterpiece. you are using a computer and the internet, **** can happen. no need to lose a good post.
17) Push the envelope in what you're writing about and how you're saying it. be more and more honest. get to the root of things. start at the root of things and get deeper. dig. think out loud. keep typing. keep going. eventually you'll find a little treasure chest. every time you blog this can happen if you let it.
18) Change your style. mimic people. write beautiful lies. dream in public. kiss and tell. finger and tell. cry scream fight sing **** and don't be afraid to be funny. the easiest thing to do is whine when you write. don't be lazy. audblog at least once a week.
19) Write open letters. make lists. call people out on their bullshit. lead by example. invent and reinvent yourself. start by writing about what happened to you today. for example today i told a hot girl how wonderfully hot she is.
20) When in doubt review something. theres not enough reviews on blogs. review a movie you just saw, a tv show, a cd, a kiss you just got, a restaurant, a hike you just took, anything.
21) You may constantly write about the town that you live in.
23) Out yourself. tell your secrets. you can always delete them later.
24) Don't use your real name. don't write about your work unless you dont care about getting fired.
25) Don't be afraid to come across as an asswipe. own your asswipeness.
26) Nobody likes poems. don't put your poems on your blog. not even if they're incredible. especially if they're incredible. odds are they're not incredible. bad poems are funny sometimes though, so fine, put you dumb poems on there. whatever.
27) Read tons of blogs and leave nice comments. Write something about your friends.
28) Don't apologize about not blogging. nobody cares. just start blogging again.

Successful blogging is not just about being the best writer on the web or even the most prolific. Being a successful blogger is about creating a connection with an audience by providing relevant content, nurturing that relationship with comments and links and keeping the dialogue flowing. Here are ten tips to get you started.
1. Understand the fundamentals of Blogger Relations
While anyone can set up a blog in a day and start publishing articles, it takes far more work to be a great blogger and see the real benefits of blogging. First, you need to have a blogging strategy that is in line with your PR strategy and business goals. Next, you have to provide relevant content. Most importantly, you must conduct what is called Blogger Relations. Blogger Relations is what blogging is all about—starting and maintaining a conversation. Unlike Public Relations or media relations where you are trying to pitch your story, with Blogger Relations you initiate and participate in ongoing discussions with other bloggers and your target audience. As the conversation progresses, you get to know the other players in your industry; you gain credibility by listening as well as commenting; and you gain new readers as other bloggers provide links back to your blog to give you credit for your ideas. The more you conduct Blogger Relations, the more successful your blogging will be.
2. Create value Creating something of value for your audience should be the first aim of your blog; otherwise your readers will have no reason to return. This is where a public relations strategy can help you develop content that keeps your customers coming back for more.
3. Grow and sustain your audience by providing real analysis Monitor the news and blogs for articles that would be of interest to your audience. When writing about the news as a blogger, it is not just a matter of describing the news—though that is important. It is more imperative that you provide new, informative and entertaining analysis in order to sustain and grow your audience. That is why opinion and your personal perspective interlaced with your past experiences will help to add to your credibility and foster loyal readership.
4. Report on community opinion If you think the news is important but don’t have an opinion or perspective, one way to provide opinion is to provide a synopsis of ideas from the community at large. In addition to acting as a valuable resource for your audience, you create the opportunity to send a trackback link to one or more blogs, connecting with more bloggers AND more readers.
5. Respond with comments to build relationships and traffic Responding to another blogger’s comment can be just as important as the article post itself. Blogging is about dialogue and the opportunity to interact with your audience. Many posts will not receive any comments, but when they do, you have to be ready to respond. Blogging is a little like having an amphitheatre of people viewing a conversation between two people. While you must focus on the conversation with your commenter, you must also be aware of the rest of the audience. In other words, you should respond to the challenge the commenter presents while at the same time providing greater context, so the entire readership can follow and benefit from your conversation.
6. Track your conversations
In order to keep conversations flowing, you have to stay aware of each discussion in progress. Unfortunately, we are still in the early days of blogging, and many blogs do not include notification technology to let you know where there has been a new post. And even if a blogger receives notification that you have commented on his/her blog, does not mean that you will receive notification when that blogger replies to your comment. If comment email subscription is available, it is wise to subscribe. You may also choose to use tools such as del.icio.us or Cocomment for tracking comments online and subsequent follow up. But, ultimately, you may have to monitor for comments manually to make sure you keep the conversations alive.
7. Don’t be afraid of criticism Dialogue is also about criticism; so don’t be afraid when others criticize your ideas or actions you have taken on a blog. See it as opportunity to keep the conversation flowing. In the blogosphere, you are more respected when you demonstrate the ability to respond. In addition, a “foil” critiquing your work can often draw more attention to the discussion and increase readership. Furthermore, criticism can be constructive. Feedback related to product flaws and improvements can actually help your product development process.
8. Conduct interviews to generate content and ideas Interviews are a great way to generate interest and content for the blog. Picking other bloggers to interview is particularly helpful in generating links and traffic. Many bloggers will enjoy the added attention and more than likely link back to your interview post.
9. Promote your blogWhen an author writes a book, the writing process is often very much solitary. Once the book is published, however, a writer must reach out to others and promote that book through public readings and strategic marketing. Building a successful blog requires a similar approach. Once your articles are written, you have to promote them by chatting with colleagues in the industry and starting a dialogue. Connect with loyal and thoughtful readers as well as industry authorities. When bloggers take note of your article, it tends to have a viral effect, increasing eyeballs exponentially.
10. Monitor the web for brand names and references Using RSS feed search engines such as technorati.com and blogpulse.com, monitor for mention of your company and corporate blog posts as well as important developments in your industry.

If your site isn’t a back-link superstar, you’ll never be an internet mogul! My sincere desire is that you can use this article to find more success in your online endeavors. Why most articles about getting links aren’t worth time it takes to read them:
1. Most (I’ve seen a few exceptions) don’t have a single original idea.
2. Most contain too much technical jargon that no one understands. What’s the point of creating a list for the 3 people in the known universe that know what a ‘meme tracker’ is? The 3 people that know what a ‘meme tracker’ is can now proceed to close their browsers and start making fun of this article.
3. Most are lists of links to other lists that have links to other lists that have links to other lists that list the links - ok, you get the point.
4. Most don’t tell you why you need to do the things on the list. Who implements ideas that they don’t understand?
5. People don’t know where to start because the ideas people should implement first aren’t necessarily listed first.
Why this article isn’t worthless: * On this list, you will see original ideas that you have never seen before.
* It doesn’t have the above, annoying characteristics.
* If you find technical jargon, you will find out what it means.
* It doesn’t link to other lists; this is the end-all of lists on the subject.
* The methods you should do first, appear first.
102 Ways To Make Your Site A Back-Link Superstar:
1. Provide more value than other blogs and sites. This is by far the most neglected area by all of us! We want to market our sites like crazy, but conveniently forget that we need to offer more to our readers. We want to have 300,000 hits a day but we only want to write five 300 word articles per month. Steve Pavlina said that it should be easy to make a million dollars if only he could figure out how to provide a million dollars worth of value. Sites that have that kind of value don’t have any problem getting the link love.
2. Add a blog to your site. Blogs are capable of getting a lot more back-link love than regular websites. There are several reasons for this:
* Blogs are tracked in real-time. Blog search engines publish the most recent blog entries they can find. This means your new entries get linked to instantly.
* Blogs are much easier to update than regular websites. You can create a lot more content in the same amount of time. There is no need to design a new page for a new article. You simply write a new article and publish. Your increase in content will increase your visibility and ability to get links.
* Blogs get links from other blogs. If you run a regular website that isn’t a blog, you will have a harder time getting links from bloggers. Bloggers mostly read and follow blogs!
If your site is or has a blog, well done. If you have no idea how to setup a blog you should visit the following entry of this site, “5263 Words On Starting A Profitable Blog.“
3. Post relentlessly. The more you are able to post, the more you will appear in blog search engines like Technorati, Google Blog Search, and Blog Search Engine. Note: People aren’t going to link to posts that are garbage so don’t sacrifice quality for quantity. If your site isn’t a blog, update often and then go back to #2 and add a blog.
4. Make sure that your blog is set to ping. If you’re using a WordPress blog you will find this in your admin section: Go to Options and then Writing. Make sure that you have some blog search engines in the Update Services box at the bottom. The ones I’m using are:

5. Use Technorati tags (follow the link to the left for a lesson on what they are and how to implement them. Opens in a new window.). Getting into more categories in Technorati and other blog search engines will get you more links from them, exposing you to other bloggers and webmasters that can link to you. To easily create Technorati tags, use this simple tool: Tag Generator. All you have to do is type in the keyword, and the tool will make the code for the tag.
6. Create authority posts. An authority post by my definition takes at least 10 hours to write. These are posts that people are likely to be linked to. My post, “5263 Words On Starting A Profitable Blog” has already been linked to quite a bit. Authority posts are more thorough than most other posts. They’re usually longer than other posts. Authority posts must be easy to find (follow this link for a lesson on where you should put your authority posts) on your site, getting them more exposure than other posts.
7. Have your friends tag your best work in Digg. (Digg is a site that allows people to vote whether they like and article or not.) Your friends can get the article moving in the right direction. There are also other social bookmarking sites that are very popular. Here are a few of the biggies: Reddit, Netscape, Del.Icio.Us, and StumbleUpon. This won’t do a whole lot of good if your article isn’t good, but if it is it can bring you thousands of visitors per day, which will link to a good amount of links.
8. Encourage readers to Digg authority articles. If they like the article or post, they will vote for it for you. It only takes a few seconds.
9. Make your articles easy to Digg. If you look at the end of this article, you will find a button for Digg, Reddit, and some other imporant social bookmarking sites. These can make a huge difference and can add to a lot more exposure and links. To install those buttons I used the Sociable plugin for WordPress.
10. Creating list-posts. Examples: “Top 10 Ways To Stop Being A Lazy Pig”, “Top 5 Internet Marketing Gurus”, “Top 25 Reasons Why 99% Of Bloggers Don’t Make It”, “99 Ways To Make Your Blog Or Site A Backlink Super Power”. People love linking to that stuff. Place your list-post in a prominent location on your site (follow this link for a lesson on where you should put your authority posts) or people will never find it.
11. Recognize your field’s gurus. Link to them often. They are going to watch closely the source of their traffic and will definitely see if you’re sending some their way. If you send them traffic, they may start reading your site. If they find something they like, they might link to it. One link from a guru in your field could mean more than 100 weaker links. Gurus are usually pretty generous in spreading the link love. That’s a hint, hint to Darren Rowse, Shoemoney (Jeremy Schoemaker), John Chow, and Steve Pavlina, all of which I read daily.
12. Publish an RSS feed. An RSS feed is a news feed that people can subscribe to. They can see if you have written new entries on your site without having to go there. Many webmasters stay up to date by reading RSS feeds from the sites in their industry. If you don’t have a feed, these webmasters will never see your updates. If you have a WordPress blog, it creates an RSS feed for you. Other sites will naturally syndicate the feed. (They will post it in their site) Some of them will link to you as the source.
13. Setup your feed on feedburner. This makes your feed subscriptions easy to track and allows you to encourage users to subscribe. After you have quite a few subscribers, it makes getting additional subscriptions easy.
14. Comment on other blogs. Always fill in the URL box so that the owner can find your site. Good comments will spark more interest than dull ones. Answering other people’s questions in comments gets them excited - one of the most effective ways to spark an online rambling about you and your site.
15. Respond to comments left on your blog. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been able to get full write ups about this site just because I responded to people’s questions and comments. When people’s questions are answered, you become the authority. People can’t help but link to the authority.
16. Respond to your email. Be kind to people. Be cool to people. Help them with their questions. If it’s a hard question to answer, post the answer on your site so that you get the content. Email the person that asked and give them the URL to their answer. Being helpful to others will earn you respect and link love.
17. Link out to other blogs like crazy. If you link to interesting articles on other blogs, they will link back to interesting articles that you have. Bloggers usually check their site stats every 30 seconds, they’ll see that you have linked to them. (It’s an addiction!) Many people don’t want to link out because it spreads their pagerank thin. Would you rather have pagerank or money? I, personally would rather have money. Pagerank will come. It won’t do you any good to have high pagerank if you don’t have any traffic, and most people don’t realize that the two aren’t as tied together as it seems.
18. Offer to be a guest blogger. If you can write for someone’s site, you will certainly be able to link to related resources on your site. If you’re going to do this one, write a killer article and submit it to an A-lister (leading blogger in your field) who has a high-traffic site.
19. Timestamp your posts. (Timestamping is adjusting your post entry so that it is posted on a certain day, at a certain time. You can finish an article on Saturday and set it to post on Monday.) There are more visitors at Technorati, Google Blog Search, and Digg on weekdays. Never publish an really good article on a weekend, you’ll be off the front page of Technorati before all the visitors are there. If you’re using a WordPress blog, there is a Timestamp option on your “Write Post” page. You can set the date and time you want the article to publish, and then click publish. It won’t show up on your site until that date and time.
20. Show related posts in your blog entries. A blogger might find your site via one article but find a different one that they’re really interested in. Showing your related posts can help them to be found more easily. Interest+Visibility=Links. If you’re using WordPress, you can find out why and how to use the related posts plugin here.
21. Use deep-linking. Deep-linking is when you link to older posts or pages in new posts or pages. This article links to quite a few of my older articles that I think are good resources for the people reading this one. This can help your readers and expose your good work to them.
22. Use meme trackers to find hot topics. Meme trackers are sites that track information published on blogs and news sites, and provide information about which topics are the hottest. The big meme trackers are Memeorandum and Techmeme.com. Technorati also has a type of meme tracker. They show you the hottest tags in real time. When you find hot discussions, contribute to them. Your opinions can bring valuable visitors to your site, and will get linked to from other opinions on the topic. If you’re posts are tagged properly, people will be able to find them easily, so make sure you use tags on your articles, as you learned earlier.
23. Do blog reviews. (Follow the link to the left to find a list of blogs that do review exchanges.) Tons of webmasters will link to you in exchange for reviewing their site.
24. Do link exchanges. You never know if a sitewik or blog will exchange links with you, unless you ask. Since most bloggers won’t have traditional link pages (thank goodness), you should probably find one of their posts that is interesting, and link to it in one of your articles. Ask them to do the same.
25. Add a page that invites people to link to you. Offer to link back. Ask them to link to an interesting article on your site and tell them that you’ll link to an interesting article on their site. Create a contact form so that they can let you know quickly and easily that they have taken you up on your offer. You have to be willing to help others or this method will never work.
26. Trade blogroll links. Some bloggers will trade sitewide (this means on every page) or blogroll links. I would only do it if I felt that the site truly had something special to offer to my readers.
27. Ask me to do a link exchange. Better yet, link to me first and then ask me to linkback. I will! Even better, link to me everyday and don’t ask for me to link back. You can get a link from me here.
28. Get a MyBlogLog account. MyBlogLog.com is like MySpace for bloggers. It it a place where bloggers go to meet each other and find new blogging friends. You can link to your blog(s) from your profile page, and other bloggers will have a chance to check out your work, which could lead to additional links.
29. Start a MyBlogLog.com Community. You can create your own community that members can join. Be extra social and invite members to join your community. This exposes a lot more bloggers to your site.
30. Do article exchanges with webmasters on your field.
31. Do a scheduled, recurring guest blog exchange with someone from your field. Writing for each other can give you both exposure to a new group of individuals that are interested in your field. You can link to resources on your own site each time.
32. Read your posts before publishing. Edit, edit, and edit again. Make sure they’re right before you show them to the world. Make sure your writing is easy to read and grammatically correct.
33. Run spell check. This probably sounds stupid but I’ve been called out in my comments a few times and I doubt that I’ll get any links from the people that noticed my spelling errors.
34. Learn more about your field. If you’re site doesn’t have any good material, you probably won’t have much luck getting links from other bloggers.
35. Create walk-throughs. I created a walk-through for one of my cell phone sites that teaches people how to connect their Motorola Krzr cell phone to their computer. People love me for it, and I got links from Cnet, Mobiledia, and HowardForums because of it. These are 3 of the biggest cell phone sites! You can walk people through installing ads, writing a good post, starting a blog, baking banana bread, riding a bike, or anything related to your field.
36. Use giveaways. Hold a raffle where you give away something cool. The participants have to link to you in order to get in their name into the raffle. If you gave away an Xbox 360 you would probably get a lot more links than you would if you gave away a snickers bar. (This method is only down this far because it costs money, otherwise it would be very near the top because it works like crazy)
37. Write articles tailored to beginners. Most people in your field are beginners! Most bloggers in general are beginners. You can’t connect with them by writing about PHP scripting and dynamic server protocols. You have to assume that your readers know nothing about the topic without talking down to them. They will show you their appreciation.
38. Submit articles to article sites like: Article Dashboard, GoArticles, and Article City. They will also allow you to place a link to your site at the bottom of the article. You can write an article about anything in your field. Most article sites like the articles to be about 500 words.
39. Submit stories to news sites. Even huge sites like ESPN.com accept stories from free lancers.
40. Review products on your site. Most brands are trying desperately to get more exposure. If you provide a thorough, fair review of a company’s product, it might get linked to. For best results review products from new, up-and-coming companies.
41. Review products on other sites like ePinions. You can quickly establish yourself as an expert by writing thorough reviews of products in your field. Some of the traffic that hits your review will follow the trail back to your site, leading to links.
42. Write testimonials for sites whose services have helped you. The testimonials themselves will often turn into links, and the webmasters will surely check out your site.
43. Write a testimonial for me. I’ll let you link to yourself in it. You can see other testimonials that people have left here.
44. Write and submit a press release. Sites like PRWeb will publish them and link to you.
45. Alert webmasters in your field when you write solid content that will be useful for their readers. Don’t bother webmasters by updating them on every little thing you add to your site. Alert them when you have authority articles.
46. Alert friends when you create something that will help them. If you’re helping them they should definitely give you some link love.
47. If you don’t have any friends, get some fast.
48. Write to help others. If you can help other people to find more success, you deserve a link from them. You will probably get one.
49. Mentor other aspiring bloggers. I help out quite a few friends and most of them have me on their blogroll. They also link to me from time to time, and read my site often. Some of them will probably get really big eventually and those links will pay off enormously!
50. Try to meet other bloggers offline. Every city has bloggers and other internet marketers. These relationships can lead to ‘mutual plugging’ and idea swapping.
51. Create surveys. A good survey can make a person (or a group of people) feel important and could lead to some free marketing from them.
52. Poll your readers. People like to participate in polls and are super interested in the outcomes. Many times they will link to the outcome post of a poll just because they participated in the poll.
53. Comment on online newspapers. Most of the links you make won’t have direct SEO benefit thanks to the “no follow” command, but the writers will follow the trail back to your site.
54. Interview other bloggers. Many bloggers want to be famous! They will jump at the chance to be interviewed. Add a page to your blog that let’s people in your field know that you are interested in interviewing them. Tell them how to sign up and they will. I can almost guarantee that they’ll be linking back to the interview once it’s published.
55. Cite the source of your information. This good will often sparks reciprocation. Webmasters and bloggers love to be talked about.
56. Use forums and discussion boards. I sometimes try to find something that people are really confused about. If you answer their question they will automatically start to wonder who you are. Most of the time I have to research the problem myself to be able to answer them. The best way to answer their question is by creating a short walkthrough on your site that teaches them. Show them where to find it and you have yourself a link. That technique will also work on the next few suggestions.
57. Ask your local, public library to link to you with their website.
58. Answer people’s questions on Yahoo! Answers. You are able to link to resources on other websites that will help answer people’s questions. If you don’t already have a resource on your site that will help answer a question, create one. Link to from Yahoo! Answers. You have a link, and some more valuable content for your site.
59. Answer questions on Google Groups. Very similar to the one for Yahoo! Answers.
60. Submit to free web directories. The biggie is DMOZ. (Don’t even bother unless you have at least 100 posts on your blog.) Directories are lists of thousands of sites. One of them should be you!
61. Submit to blog directories like BOTW. Blog directories are thousands of blogs, listed in categories.
62. Submit to paid directories. Don’t do it unless you have to budget. The biggie is Yahoo! Directory.
63. Write controversial content. Sometimes you can really get people talking by criticizing famous people and brands.
64. Write about celebrities. People eat that stuff up and if you write something that people don’t know, you will get links from all over the place.
65. Write about the leaders in your field. Tell others why you think they’re successful.
66. Attack the leaders in your field. (This one I would never do.) Write why they should do things differently. I’m sure I could get a load of links by attacking Darren Rowse, Shoemoney (Jeremy Schoemaker), John Chow, and Steve Pavlina, but I wouldn’t do it because I have too much respect for them. That said, I have to admit that I could get some serious traffic by getting some dirt on them or attacking their business practices.
67. Write in English. English is the major language of the internet and blog written in English cater to a much larger audience.
68. Install a text translator on your site. (I haven’t done this one yet but it’s one of my ideas for the near future.) Surely people that blog in other languages would tell their readers about www.mysite.com that has a version that they can more easily read. I would love to have a version of this site in Chinese, which is the second biggest language of the internet. It will eventually be the biggest.
69. Create a contact page with a contact form. If people don’t have to open up their email to get in touch with you, it will be easier for them to ask you for a link exchange.
70. Create a testimonial page. Allow people to link to themselves in their testimonials. Add your site to our list of sites that want testimonials.
71. Create a Wikipedia page about yourself or your business. Wikipedia links don’t count due to a “no follow” command, but you will gain some exposure that will surely lead to additional links.
72. Create a Squidoo page about yourself. 73. Join the Better Business Bureau - for this one you have to have a business!
74. Join local clubs that have websites. Maybe give them a few pointers for their site and find out if they list members. Include a link on your member’s page.
75. Check for local government directories - it should be easy to get into local, online listings.
76. Donate to an online charity. They usually list contributors. Make sure you donate using the name of your site.
77. Place an ad in Craigslist. (Craigslist is a very large, online classified site)
78. Market your site as a free resource for local businesses. I told an attorney friend of mine about this site so that he could get some promotional ideas for his company’s site. Sure enough he linked to me.
79. Better yet, hire a publicist. They can probably get you on the news so that lots of people and businesses can use you as a resource.
80. Hire a link building consultant. Andy Hagans is a great one. This one is down this far on the list because it costs $ and isn’t guaranteed.
81. Hire a starving student and pay them $8 an hour to do everything on this list for 8 hours a day.
82. Get some interns that you can teach to build links. Create an LLC called MyCompany Marketing, LLC. Set up an internship program with the marketing department at the local university or college. Get 2 students to work 4 hours a day doing everything on this list for free.
83. Get some interns to write for you. Start a second LLC called MyCompany Publishing, LLC. Set up an intership with the journalism department at the local college and get a few free interns (writers) for your blogs. That way you can start a few new blogs that you can use as valuable resources to get links from.
84. Start a few more blogs. You can create free blogs on Blogspot if you want. Give your main blog a link once in a while. There isn’t any reason to make 1,000 links with it, just link once in a while. Maybe you could even update the blogs once a week. Who knows, you might make some money with those as well.
85. Encourage your friends to start blogs. Some of my friends have started blogs and I have links from all of them. I actually didn’t really encourage them, but they asked me and it has worked out great for my blog.
86. Create images and tools that people can use on MySpace, FaceBook, and other social networking sites.
87. Link to your blog from your MySpace page. If you don’t have one, set one up. Try to get a lot of friends in there, because the more friends you have in MySpace, the more traffic your space will get.
88. Ask your friends to link to you from their MySpace pages. These links won’t be majorly valuable from an SEO standpoint, but could bring some extra visitors, which lead to additional links.
89. Create a new MySpace page for your site. Become friends with other pages like yours.
90. Create a WordPress template. I’m not a designer, but if I was I would create hundreds of these. If a person uses your template they will be linking to you with every page of their site. There are millions of pages in the world running WordPress.
91. Create a Mambo template. Mambo is a content management system like WordPress that allows users to create websites.
92. Hold and sponser a writing contest in your field with a giveaway to the winner. Make the contestants publish the article on their sites while linking to yours.
93. Create a certification program for sites in your field. Design a trophy that people can use to display on their sites if they pass the certification. Host the image. (This means that you will not allow them to download the trophy picture. They will just install a peice of code that you will give them that will reference the trophy picture from your site.) You need to save the image on your site and them use this code to give them: Insert the URL where your image is saved where it says, “yourimageurl”.
94. Buy links. You can email webmasters asking them to link to you in exchange for hard green. You can also use a service like Text Link Ads to purchase and rent links.
95. Rent links. Same as buying links except the links won’t be permanent. Usually you pay monthly for this type. Check out Text Link Ads for details.
96. Buy posts from other bloggers. You can offer to pay them directly to post about your site, or you can buy posts through services like Pay Per Post and ReviewMe.
97. Start a design company. Add the design service to your site. You can create small sites for individuals and people, adding designed-by links at the bottom of their pages.
98. Donate sites to non-profit organizations. Non-profits usually get a lot of links from government sites, and so they would be ideal to design for. Make sure to include a “design donated by MySite.com” at the bottom.
99. Setup blogs for other people. Make sure you include, “Designed by MySite.com” or “Inspired by MySite.com.” Help them to achieve success and their links will become a lot more valuable.
100. Help students that are taking HTML classes in college. Your help can probably be traded for ridiculously valuable .edu links on their student accounts. Make sure you link to their little student sites so they get indexed. You may want to link to them from another site you have, or from a forum. I’ve missed the boat on that one a few times with friends that I actually helped. Oops!
101. Donate some time every week to hold Q and A sessions for beginners in your area. They’ll link to you naturally, or you can ask them to.
102. Encourage friends to bring friends to Q and A sessions. Help them all out. You may get some good ideas yourself and some links from your group.

1 Choose a topic that you know, like, and are passionate about. This way you will never get bored and will keep your audience always interested and asking for more.
2 Pick a topic where there is not a lot of competition. If your topic is too common, try addressing it from a particular angle or focus on a specific niche. For example, there are many sites that talk about cars, but few that specialize in only one brand, and even fewer that focus on only one model. The key to be successful is to find a specific enough topic with a large enough audience.
3 Open a Blogger account. It is free and easy to use. That way, you won’t have to invest in costlier platforms like MovableType or TypePad before you have the chance of finding out if blogging is for you.
4 Use a minimalist template, preferably one with a white background. This format is easier to read and pleasant to the eye when you combine it with color pictures.
5 Use pictures to dress up your blog entries and give your blog a more professional appearance. You can find excellent pictures at a very low cost in istockphoto.com, or even free in Flickr (don’t forget to ask the owner of the picture for permission before you use it).
6 In one of your blog’s side columns, list six or seven links to authoritative sites related to your topic. When the search engine robots visit your blog, they will find these links and your blog will benefit by association.
7 Write in simple language, short paragraphs and using bullet points. These are essential guidelines for writing on the web, and will make your posts easier to read and understand.
8 Always link out to the sources you use to document your posts. This is not only good etiquette but also a way to promote your blog and get links: when the people you link to find out that they’ve been linked to, they will most likely link to your post from their site or blog.
9 Check your posts for spelling and grammatical errors. This will make your blog look more professional and will increase the probability of other people linking to it.
10 Use labels to categorize your posts and keep your blog neatly organized. Blogger recently modified its software to allow the use of labels.
11 Participate actively in forums and discussion groups related to your topic. Find what are the most common questions and provide the answers in your blog. Then, direct forum readers to your blog. Try to also direct forum readers to other resources, or answer without necessarily linking to your blog, sometimes. If not, you may be perceived as self serving and only interested in promoting your blog.
12 Use HitTail to research topics to write about. HitTail gives you a list of the search terms used by those who came to your blog through a search engine. This search term list will give you ideas for future blog posts.
13 Allow your blog readers to email your posts to other people. Also, give them the option to bookmark your posts using del.icio.us, furl, or any other social bookmarking service. You can go to AddThis to download a smart button that makes it easy to bookmark your posts. You can find instructions on how to add the button to Blogger here. The easier you make it to share your blog posts, the more relevant traffic your blog will get.
14 Use Technorati tags at the end of your blog posts. Technorati tags are a way of classifying your blog posts by topic and have them added to Technorati’s index (Technorati is the most important search engine for blogs). Use this automatic Technorati tag generator to avoid having to create the HTML code manually.
15 Syndicate your blog allowing your visitors to subscribe to your feeds through their favorite aggregator. This way, they will be automatically notified every time you update your blog. You can use this tool to generate attractive syndication buttons, which you can then place in a side column of your blog.
16 Post frequently. It is the only way to keep your audience interested and coming back. Two or three times a week is ideal. Once a week is the borderline minimum that I recommend to keep your audience engaged and maintain adequate visibility in the search engines.
17 Keep a large number of posts in the main page of your blog. Search engine robots usually won’t crawl and index all your blog pages, however they will visit your main page frequently. The more content you keep in your main page, the bigger the chance of it popping up in the search engine results pages.
18 Use Google Adsense to monetize your blog. Blogger lets you add Google Adsense easily and seamlessly in several locations within a page. The best locations are within the content, and on top of the page simulating a navigation bar.

Learn what Blogs are and How to Use Them
If you browse internet a lot, then you have probably stumbled upon a blog. Blogs or web logs are, simply stated, websites that allow authors to post their thoughts or news on the web about one or another subject. However, unlike a regular website, blog usually represents a personal opinion of the author about some kind of topic. What’s good about blog is that readers can submit their comments about the author’s post (if author allows that).
So if you have a web log you can connect to your target audience. You can find like minded people and make you blog even stickier than a website.
Another thing that differentiates a blog from a regular website is that blogs have archives, which allow you to look at the most recent post or jump to the very first post made few years ago. Some blogs are archived by day, some by week or month. Author chooses the archiving frequency depending on how much time he’s got to write content.
Why Blogs Have Become So Popular?
It seems that blogs have come to the daylight just a few years ago. But in reality, it’s nothing new. Webmasters were using blogs for many years. The buzz started recently, because a few internet marketers discovered that it’s a great way to make money with blogs and started telling and selling another “how to blog” product to the rest of the world.
Now, blogs have really started dominating the web. As some researches say, the popularity of blogs is going to increase in the next few years and even more people will start making blogs.
There are actually few reasons why blogs are so popular now. First of all, they are search engine friendly. As long as posts are made very often and regularly, search engines spider them and index them very often. Second of all, it’s very easy to set up a blog. Lots of folks who don’t have a website want to get one. But they face a major problem. They don’t know HTML and how to create a website. Blogs eliminate this problem entirely.
You can set up a blog and start publishing information literally within minutes. And you don’t need to know how to create websites or any programming language.
Blogs for Search Engine Optimization
You have probably heard people saying many times that blogs are fantastic for SEO purposes and you should start a blog immediately if you want to get rankings in search engines. Are they right? Well, yes and no.
As mentioned earlier, search engine bots revisit blogs quite often, almost everyday if the content is updated very frequently. It also doesn’t take much to build a content, which search engines like. All you need to do is make a post about a topic in your industry once in a while. And if you have a loyal community, then readers will post comments about your post so you build content quickly. It means that not only you have to build content yourself, but your community helps you do that too.
However, what concern SEO, blogs are nothing magical. You already know why search engines like blogs and rank them higher. If you update your website frequently, add original content, you’ll get lots of readers and search engines will love your site just like any blog or oven more. So for SEO purposes, you really don’t have to create a blog. But if you don’t have time or money to spend on site development, then a blog is a perfect alternative.
Monetizing on Blogs
Many internet marketers say that you should start a blog, because it’s a perfect way to make money. If you think that just by having a blog, you’ll be able to boost your income by 1000%, then you’re wrong. A blog won’t give you any new ways to make money, other than by having a website. All marketing options are the same as for website marketing. Ok, so let’s look at a couple of ways to make money with blogs:
* Offer Affiliate Ads – Just like with a website, you can start offering visitors various links or banners to your affiliate products or services. If you have a community that trusts you, you can really make some nice money.
* Contextual Advertising – The simplest way to monetize your blog is by having Adsense or any other similar program’s ads on your blog. You make money when people click on these ads.
* Sell Advertising Space – You can sell banners or text links on your blog. If your blog gets a lot of traffic, or you have a high pagerank, then this method might work great for you.
As you see, having a blog will not bring you any magical ways to make money. However, there’s one method that can bring you traffic that you can’t get by having a website. And that is blog directories. There are hundreds of blog directories (more being added every week). So if you have a blog, you can actually submit it to blog directories and see some increase in traffic quickly. That’s a nice thing about having a blog. If you submit your blog to at least 20 or 30 directories, then you can start getting traffic within days from a submission.
Summing Up
Blogs are very useful. They allow users to start publishing information online in a very convenient way. It’s easy to set up a blog. Search engines love them. The content builds pretty fast if you’re passionate about the subject. You also get additional sources of traffic. What can be bad about it? Well, nothing.
Blogs will not disappear from the surface, at least not within 2 or 5 years. Google already has a blog search engine. More search engines and directories are being built everyday. So starting a blog now can be a smart decision.
If you have a website building software and you know how to build websites, then for the sake of SEO you probably shouldn’t create a blog. However, otherwise a blog is a great and easy to use tool to get content and traffic.

1)Keep Content Fresh
New content is a great way to keep visitors coming back. Search engines also rank sites with fresh content higher. Keeping an active blog is a great way to keep your site new and fresh.
2)Keep it Simple
Visitors should be able to easily look around your site. If visitors are frustrated and can't find what they are looking for, they are likely to leave quickly and never come back or recommend your site to others.
3)Help Visitors Contact You
Make it simple for visitors to reach you if they want. Include a guestbook or blog where they can post questions. Add a "contact me" form where they can submit questions to you via email.
4)Use Descriptive File Names
Use descriptive keywords as names for the files (e.g., pictures, videos) on your site. This will help your site appear more with search engines - especially through things like Google Image Search.
5)Create Links
Getting links to your site from other websites will help generate more traffic and improve your placement in search engines. Find other Freewebs sites on your same topic and put a link to them on your site -- maybe in a new "Favorite Links" page. Then ask those sites to link back to you by signing their guestbook.
6)Tag your Site
Adding site tags can increase the number of times your site shows up in search results. To pick the right keywords, try putting yourself in the shoes of your visitors and think what they would search for if they wanted to find your site.
7)Liven Up Site with Widgets
Add widgets to help your visitors interact with your site, get useful information, or just have fun. They are free and easy to add.

22 Mistakes that you never would have known could violate Google Adsense
No Comment - Post a comment
Google Adsense is an idiot proof money making program that allows you to places contextual Ads on your website or blog. One thing for sure google is no idiot, there have set a very strict rules and regualation which you got to follow or get eliminated, it's sounds like some reality show, but the fact is not everyone will compile to the terms of services which they should have read when they apply for adsense.
This may seems like some donkey years information but many people are still breaking the rules yet they blame Google adsense for giving them the boot out of the program. To stay with adsense, you got to play along with the rules and the rules are not meant to be broken with Google. Common Mistakes are always made by people, while they want to hitch a fast ride to making money, but it will never work! Be Internet smart and avoid these common mistakes which will violate Google Adsense.
1. Never Click your own ads in whatever way
Coincidentally this is number 1, because i want to tell you 70% of why google adsense ban you is because you either tried to be fun to test the system by clicking on your own ads or you gave an accidental click on your site. For those who tried to test the system, good luck, as for those who gave an accidental click, there is a way to help you not get ban, give google adsense a courtesy mail and tell them you accidentally click on your own ads and they will help you in some ways. Remember how you own up when you did something wrong, your parents forgive you.
2. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any blog
Google gives a maximum of 3 ad units and links with 2 search boxes to be placed on 1 full page, even if you place a fourth ad, it will never appear on your page so don't worry, once you busted the limit, it will not show, a safe pre-cautious that Google implemented.
3. Never Change or implement new codes in your adsense
When you have configured your adsense code, make sure you do not meddle with the script nor the ads codes. The only code that you may change are the color and banner size code, again i warn those who are not proficient in HTML to not try this, go back to the product and reset the configurations.
4. Open 1 Account for 10 websites
If you have 10 websites which you want to use Adsense, then 1 account is sufficient, there is no requirement for you to open another 10 more, even with 10 more a small mistakes can land all your accounts into the "publisher burying sections".
5. Do not disclosure your secrets
This happens when you are showing off your Google adsense income report. You should always remember that you are only allowed to show the earnings column, cause adsense is sensitive on issues with showing your CTR and impressions.
6. Give labels like sponsors or advertisements only
Do not misled your ads to your audiences, that is one of Google's principle, place labels like Sponsors, advertisements are fine but not "Click here for more" or "Great offers". Don't get banned by Google for such acts.
7. Never let your ads launch in a new browser
It is not advisable for your to change the coding in the first place and by adding a code like target ing ads to open in a new browser is against the TOS.
8. Do not run competitive contextual text ads or search services on the same blog
It is not advisable for you to run same contextual text ads services in on page, and Google only allows alternate services like auctionads , chitika or yahoo ads provided the ads do not resemble Adsense ads.Never try to create link structures resembling the adsense ads.
9. Never put images with Adsense ads
Images and ads will be a good attraction for others to click on your irrelevant ads, which Google dismay, and they only allow placing images with ads if there is a clear cut border between the ads and the images, otherwise it is against their TOS.
10. Do not join click farms that provide you click on your ads
They claimed that they’ll deliver clicks to your ads and all you do is to join and pay them by certain amount. Always keep in mind that using such methods to earn your clicks is highly prohibited. Don't pay money for things that don't return
11. Using 3rd party programs to improves impressions
Like how you should never use Click ads program, you should not use autosurf or paid surfing program to increase your impressions with Google, this will get you out of adsense program.
12. Be cautious where you place your ads with non contents pages
Placing ads in error pages, thank you or pages that have no contents but just ads and a sentence of word is not allowed. Chances are Google would have noticed of such activities and would ban you when the time is right.
13. Don't stuff all your keywords in one article
Experts tells you to stuff keywords in one article, Google tells you not too. Who should you believe, the expert or Google who is paying you money for their ads. Writing a well contented article is what you should be looking out for and planting keywords of your choice would be advisable to hit targeted ads but avoid stuffing too much keywords, this might alarm Google to visit you when time comes.
14. Encouraging Clicks
It is not advisable that you encourage others to click on your ads, sentences like "click on mine ads and i will click on yours" or "click on my ads to discover more" is all prohibited and can cause your adsense account to be disabled.
15. Pop-up or pop-under ads are not allowed to work with adsense
Adsense discourages having both their ads with pop-up or pop-under ads from external services.
16. Do not use MFA Templates and AdSense Arbitrage
Don't buy MFA(Made for adsense) Templates! Google have been banning accounts who used them since June 21st 2007. You basically earn lots of money with this adsense arbitrage method by navigating ads to get to where you want to view the content, the site owner might be happy but Google have since had enough and placed a stop to such acts.
17. 3 Referral Button and no more
Like the ads which have a maximum of 3, referral buttons can only have a maximum of 3 and recently they added a new feature which is the referral 2.0 which you can chose different referral product and have it as text links who looks like your normal content ads.
18. Never send your adsense ads out through email
If you are one of those who are trying to outsmart google, they beat you first. Using HTML emails and delivering your adsense is not going to work, it might just give you a slap on your own face and prepare for your adsense to be closed in the next few days.
19. Don't place adsense ads as your alternate ads
When you display adsense in that fix place, you are not allowed to place alternate ads to overwrite adsense ads. If you need to place alternate ads, adsense does have a function to allow you to directly place in alternate ads instead of using their PSA.
20. Do not use directive methods to lure clicks
While placing images with borders to separate ads is not a problem, having images like arrows or other graphical gimmicks that directs others to click is also not allowed.
21. Ensure you are language supported
Presenting irrelevant ads on other languages is also not allowed so make sure your ads actually supports these languages “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. Do not use adsense if your language is not stated here.
22. Do not mask your adsense ads
While blending your ads with your content is one of the way you can improve your earnings, take note that Google does not allow you to blend the color of the url with the background. Do not hide away relevant components that are shown by Google.

If you are already running Adsense on your site, you are probably thinking of ways to increase your Adsense income.
If your Adsense is performing poorly, I have tips for you:
1. Decrease the number of Adsense blocks that you are displaying on a page. I don't know how others have experienced this, but my income seemed to be less if I had more than one block of Adsense ads displayed at once - and your CTR is definitely less if you have more than one ad impression at a time.
2. My suggestion would be to have one Adsense block in your content, and an Adlinks block somewhere at the top of your page. Adlinks is great because if someone clicks on a link in it, they are taken to a page with many more choices on it, which increases your chances of them clicking through.
3. Change your link colour to blue. While I cannot disclose my CTR I can tell you that this one little change more than doubled my CTR. I know that there are others out there who advocate that your link colour should be the same as the other links on your site, but try it out for yourself for a day or two. I think you will be highly surprised!
4. Set the URL colour to the same colour as the ad's text. This makes the URL ''melt" in and makes the link colour stand out more, definitely making it more "clickable".
The above three changes definitely resulted in doubling my own Adsense income. Experiment with it and see how it works for you.

There are many ways to build a profitable website. You can offer a service, sell a product directly, sell something indirectly, sell advertising space, sell affiliate products, and everything in-between.
There are a number of methods you can use to improve your site. Follow these steps and you too can have a moneymaking site that will practically run on autopilot. These sites make money in many different ways.
I don't say this idly. I, and a thousand of other marketers do exactly this. It's a guaranteed blueprint if everything is set up correctly. And it's not difficult.
The type of site discussed here is the “free” site - one that offers a valuable product at no cost up front. These are powerful ways of generating income. Here are the top 7 elements that make a website into a cash-cow...
1. The Copy
“Copy” is basically the text on your website. It will take up most of the page, apart from the graphics and interactive elements (e.g. forms or buttons). In fact, you shouldn't use too many graphics. Focus on the wording instead. A header image, a cover image, and a screenshot are usually sufficient.
Copywriting is a skill that can be worked on, and the subject is far too big to go into detail here. However, one of the worst things you can do is to endlessly tweak the page. You should get *something* up as soon as you can and edit it over time. Copywriting is one of the two most important tasks for a website (the other is promotion) and it's an ongoing process.
There are a number of factors to be taken into consideration.
1. First and foremost, you need a strong headline. This should attract the visitors' attention and get them to read more. A number of 'tricks' top copywriters use are “How To...” headlines, “x Ways To...” headlines, and question headlines. You can also have sub-headlines and even sub-sub-headlines. Establish the point of your site right here at the start.
2. The body text can be thought of as a letter to your prospective customer. It's best to write in a friendly way, focusing on their needs and wants, and providing the solution. Above all, remember that the point of this page is to get the visitor to take action, such as fill in a form, click a link, make a payment, etc. Anything else, such as “multimedia overload”, or links away from the page, can prove to be a distraction.
3. You can jazz up the copy with judicious use of Bold, Italics, Underline, boxed areas, highlighted text and coloured text (usually red, but whatever you use, keep the colours to a minimum).
4. Certain words and phrases can elicit an emotional response (e.g. “Free”, “Secret”, “Hot”, “Important”, etc.), and curiosity is always a good way to keep your prospect interested.
5. Because some people tend to just scan a webpage, the use of sub-headlines throughout the text and bullets can help catch their attention. Here we use a tick-graphic as we list the content.
6. Finally, testimonials can help provide proof on your website. You can get these easily by asking for them after a few sales, or by providing free pre-copies in exchange for a review/testimonial. You can also show proof in other ways, such as images of your income (Paypal account, Cheque scan, etc) if you are running an online business site.
(Tip: If all this seems a little confusing just view existing sales-letters on the web. You'll soon get a feel for it. All top Marketers 'copy' and have a “swipe file” of great ads.)
Google AdSense is an easy way to a monetise a website and would be your first income stream (see point 3). However, don't just jump the gun and place ads everywhere, as they can take your visitor away from your site.
Everyone seems to use Google AdSense these days so it's also important to know there ARE alternatives, which are reported to have varying degrees of success. AdSense provides context-targeted ads (they automatically relate to your site), and some of the others don't. If you're interested, look into Chitika MiniMalls, Yahoo Ads, or the clickbank-based Affiliate Power Ads.
2. The Form
Some sites are not interested in selling up front. The point of these pages is to capture the visitor's name and e-mail address.
After we do this we provide the download. It's a quick and easy process and most interested prospects are happy to do this. It's a win/win situation. The webmaster gets the new subscriber, and they get a quality ebook bundle.
You create a form easily, as most autoresponders (whether you use a third-party or a script on your site) will build one for you.
Getting new subscribers is very important, as they could be customers for a long time to come. Just don't abuse the relationship.
3. The One Time Offer
This is the first income stream on a “free” site. It's an 'upsell', even though there is no real sale on the first page (just a subscribe action).
Income Streams are simply the various ways you can make money. For example, if you are an online business person you could be selling software, using Ebay, consulting, designing websites, copywriting, promoting sites and more. Each of these would be an income stream. If you also work in a regular job that too would be an income stream, possibly your primary one. It's far easier to 'get rich' if you have a number of options working for you.
The One Time Offer here will show another related product, in this case a premium bundle of marketing-related software and books. For a One Time Offer to work you should price it low and over-deliver on the contents.
4. The Product
Your main product should provide whatever you promise. That is a given. It could also be working for you in many more ways and act as your ambassador on the Web.
1. First, provide giveaway, resell, master-resell rights or all three. This means the product can be passed on and provide a viral effect. It's up to you whether you charge for your product or not. If you do, then these sales are your second income stream.
2. Sometimes the product will spread further if it's a sold item as the prospect of making sales will encourage other marketers to promote it. You can provide a website and sales materials, such as pre-written ads, to make the task easier for them.
3. Within the product include links to your main site(s). If you have many sites then there should be a web of links connecting them all to each other. You can also provide ads to affiliate programs or other products you sell / giveaway but don't overdo it, and don't do it at the expense of the product itself. Always deliver what you promised!
5. The E-Course
Since you've captured the prospect's e-mail address, it's worth your time setting up an e-course to be delivered over a period of days, and it can both provide valuable information to them and keep on plugging your product (or an upsell).
Make sure you tell the customer that they will receive this information.
Each e-mail in the course can also promote another product, so even after the free software is downloaded the e-mails will continue to make sales.
It's usually considered OK to keep subscribers past the course as long as they are aware of this fact and can unsubscribe at any time (a legal requirement). Automated un-subscribe links are usually available from your Autoresponder, or you can allow them to contact you manually - the usual way is by replying to the message with 'Remove' or something similar. I prefer the latter as I have had many, many subscribers who report clicking the automatic link by mistake.
6. The Upgrade
This is the third and main income stream at the “free” site. There are many ways a visitor could get here, from clicking directly, from the links in the free ebook, from the links in the e-course, or from links from affiliates.
The entire website could have easily been more traditional and just offered a sales page for this package (as most do). However, the techniques described above provide far more scope for sales, as I hope you can see.
This premium package is again priced realistically and over-delivers on its content. There are also other benefits included that can help promote the site, and as above, they are a win/win situation.
First, the package comes with a 50% Affiliate Program, paid instantly. This turns all your customers into a potential affiliate. It's a fair system used across countless sites on the internet, since any profits are split equally.
Secondly, there is a brandable version of the giveaway and a copy of the website. This gives the customer the power to be a copy of your “free” site themselves. It allows them to give away the product, as before, but now with potential of making an income from it.
Sometimes branding rights are given with the product as an incentive to purchase. In our case, the main product is free, so the upgrade provides those rights. However you do it branding can create a massive viral effect.
7. The Future
To summarise the action of a visitor so far:
1. He/she arrives at the website,
2. fills in the form,
3. is offered a one-time-offer,
4. downloads the ebook,
5. starts receiving the e-course.
The book and course link back to the upgrade page. That is the “visitor path.”.
The income streams are:
1. Sales of the one time offer,
2. affiliate program links in branded books,
3. sales of the upgrade.
So, what now?
1. Even though you could have made money in three or more ways by this point an actual e-mail address of a happy customer is perhaps the most lucrative. If they stay with you, you could keep in contact with carefully chosen and relevant content for years to come.
2. You could provide an e-zine, periodical free downloads (perhaps branded to earn you commissions), articles, and affiliate offers. This is technically an income stream in itself, for a well-built subscriber list will literally allow you generate cash on demand - all you do is press a 'send' button.
3. After you've built your site and it's working correctly all you need to do is promote it. This is a subject unto itself but remember: a well designed site with interested visitors is almost guaranteed to succeed...
